During the middle of the last decade, I wrote numerous features for APICS - The Performance Advantage. APICS is The Association for Operations Management. The organization is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing, and logistics. The organization's well-respected journal is called The Performance Advantage. To view some of work I did for The Performance Advantage, click this APICS link. (On my "Articles Authored by Marty Weil" page, you'll find additional articles that I wrote for APICS that are no longer available on the organization's site.)
My tenure as a contributor to APICS ended the day the editor-in-chief left the organization. As often happens to contributors, the incoming editor was interested in working with writers that he had previous relationships with. Over the years, I've learned to roll with this unfortunate reality of life as a contributing editor. (Of course, I've been the beneficiary of this type of management shift, too, so it all evens out in the end.)
I'm proud of the work I did while contributing to APICS. In particular, a series of articles I wrote on Wal-Mart's RFID mandate have been widely cited in books, academic reports, and other magazine articles. Although I don't keep track of such stats, I venture to guess that that article series is the most often cited of all of my writing.
